There are many options and diplomas you can add to your degree as a student in the Faculty of Environment.
There are no admission requirements and you would normally start your specialization in second year.

Geomatics is the science and technology of gathering, analyzing, interpreting, distributing and using geographic information. Geomatics includes geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, surveying and mapping, and global positioning system (GPS). First used to manage natural resources and land development, geomatics is used in marketing, finance, health care, environmental protection and management, and transportation. Requirements
Many of our local, provincial, and national parks are facing increasing pressure from urban areas and from overuse. The parks option, in which you'll learn about many of the challenges facing parks systems across Canada, is ideal if you are interested in careers with Parks Canada, provincial parks, or conservation authorities. Global economic and environmental change can have major impacts on local communities. For example, worldwide trends can influence what types of jobs are available locally. In this option, you'll learn how globalization affects communities in Canada and how to help communities balance environmental and economic considerations. Requirements
Tourism accounts for more than US$400 billion worth of spending a year. As one of the world's largest industries, tourism also has the potential for tremendous environmental, social, economic, and political impacts. The restoration of damaged ecosystems is an increasingly important activity in an ecologically damaged world. This diploma is designed to give you both technical skills in restoration and an understanding of the context in which to place your activities. Courses are taught by professors who are active in research and in practical restoration projects throughout Ontario, including industrial brownfield projects, power line right-of-way management, gravel pit restoration, garden design, and wilderness parks. The Environmental Assessment diploma prepares you to identify, analyze, manage, and monitor the complex effects that human activities have on natural and social environments. The specializations listed above are available to students in the Faculty of Environment. You can also customize your degree by adding one or two interdisciplinary programs/options listed below which are available to all University of Waterloo students.
